Job Description:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Mainframe COBOL Developer to support the design, development, maintenance, and enhancement of business-critical applications on IBM mainframe platforms. The ideal candidate will possess strong COBOL programming skills, along with experience in related mainframe technologies.

Key responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and other mainframe technologies.

• Analyze user requirements and system specifications to create technical solutions aligned with business objectives.

• Perform impact analysis and propose solutions for system enhancements and defect resolutions.

• Conduct thorough unit testing and support integration, system, and user acceptance testing phases.

• Maintain and enhance batch and online mainframe applications.

• Perform code reviews and adhere to coding standards and best practices.

• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for production issues, including on-call rotation if required.

• Collaborate with business analysts, QA testers, and other development team members throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Document technical processes, solutions, and system configurations for knowledge sharing and future maintenance.

• Participate in data analysis, performance tuning, and optimization of existing programs.

Professional Skills:

• 9 plus years of experience in COBOL development on IBM mainframe environments.

• Proficiency with JCL, DB2, VSAM, and CICS.

• Strong understanding of mainframe file structures, data processing, and batch processing.

• Experience with debugging tools such as Abend-AID, File-AID, or Expeditor.

• Familiarity with software development methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall.

• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
