Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Lead with strong expertise in Alation to design, implement, and manage enterprise-wide data governance frameworks. This role will be responsible for establishing data policies, driving metadata management, enabling data stewardship, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead enterprise data governance strategy and execution, including policy creation, data quality management, and compliance initiatives.

• Implement and manage Alation Data Catalog to enhance data discovery, metadata management, and data lineage across the organization.

• Partner with data owners, stewards, and business stakeholders to define and maintain data standards, taxonomies, and business glossaries.

• Drive data stewardship and literacy programs, enabling self-service analytics and responsible data usage.

• Collaborate with IT, Data Engineering, and Analytics teams to ensure data governance principles are embedded into data pipelines and platforms (cloud and on-prem).

• Monitor and enforce regulatory and compliance requirements (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, SOX, etc.).

• Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of governance initiatives.

• Provide training, best practices, and thought leadership on data governance and cataloging tools.

Professional Skills:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Management, or a related field.

• 7+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or related domains.

• Hands-on expertise with Alation Data Catalog, including setup, configuration, stewardship workflows, and metadata curation.

• Strong understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK).

• Knowledge of data privacy and compliance regulations.

• Familiarity with data engineering platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP, Snowflake, Databricks preferred).

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to bridge business and technology teams.

• Experience with other governance tools (Collibra, Informatica) is a plus.
