Job Description:
We are looking for a skilled COBOL Developer to maintain, enhance, and modernize mission-critical applications built on legacy mainframe platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in COBOL, JCL, and DB2/VSAM, and should be comfortable working in mainframe environments like IBM z/OS. This role involves understanding existing systems, implementing enhancements, and supporting migration or modernization projects when needed.
Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain business-critical applications using COBOL (batch and online).

Debug and resolve issues in existing COBOL applications and perform necessary enhancements or bug fixes.

Analyze existing mainframe programs to understand business logic and dependencies.

Conduct impact analysis, code reviews, and performance tuning.

Develop programs that interact with VSAM, DB2, or IMS DB.

Write and optimize SQL queries and understand file processing logic.

Create and modify Job Control Language (JCL) scripts to execute batch jobs.

Schedule, monitor, and troubleshoot job execution on the mainframe.

Write technical documentation including program specs, change logs, and job flows.

Provide L2/L3 support, production issue triage, and root cause analysis.

Support efforts to modernize legacy applications or integrate them with distributed systems using APIs or middleware.

Participate in code conversion and platform migration initiatives.

Must have shell script and Linux knowledge.
