Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Oracle Backup Administrator to manage and maintain backup, recovery, and data protection strategies for Oracle databases and enterprise systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Oracle RMAN, backup tools, disaster recovery planning, and ensuring data integrity and availability across production and non-production environments.

Key responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and manage backup and recovery strategies for Oracle databases.

• Administer and optimize Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) and other enterprise backup solutions (NetBackup, Commvault, Avamar, etc.).

• Perform daily monitoring of backup jobs, troubleshoot failures, and ensure successful data restores.

• Work closely with DBAs and system administrators to align backup schedules and policies.

• Implement and test disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity plans.

• Maintain documentation for backup configurations, policies, and procedures.

• Automate backup processes using scripting (Shell/Perl/Python).

• Ensure compliance with organizational security, retention, and audit requirements.

• Support regular patching, upgrades, and capacity planning for backup infrastructure.

• Provide on-call support for backup/recovery-related incidents.

Professional Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

• 8+ years of experience in Oracle database administration with a focus on backup/recovery.

• Strong expertise in Oracle RMAN and Data Guard.

• Hands-on experience with enterprise backup tools such as Veritas NetBackup, Commvault, Avamar, TSM, or equivalent.

• Proficiency in Unix/Linux system administration and scripting.

• Knowledge of database performance tuning and storage management.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently and within a team.
