About the Role:

We’re on the hunt for a seasoned Senior DBA who thrives in cloud-first, high-availability environments and brings deep experience managing Oracle and PostgreSQL databases, especially in ecosystems powered by Guidewire and deployed on AWS. If you’re a database wizard who can juggle RDBMS, cloud infrastructure, and insurance-specific platforms while keeping systems secure, performant, and available, this one’s for you.

Core Responsibilities:

• Administer, monitor, and optimize performance for Oracle and PostgreSQL databases in production and non-production environments.
• Work closely with application teams to support Guidewire
• Troubleshoot complex database issues—performance bottlenecks, slow queries, locking, partitioning.
• Automate database maintenance tasks using shell scripts, Python, or other scripting tools.
• Create and maintain robust DB security policies, user permissions, and audit compliance processes.
• Collaborate with developers, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to implement best practices in database design and cloud deployment.

Must-Have Skills:

• 10+ years of DBA experience, with a focus on Oracle and PostgreSQL
• Advanced PostgreSQL knowledge, including replication, logical decoding, vacuuming, and performance tuning
• Strong experience working within Guidewire systems (data modeling, integrations, upgrades)
• Proven experience managing cloud-hosted DBs in AWS (RDS, Aurora, EC2-hosted DBs)
• Experience with database migrations to/from Oracle/Postgres in AWS
• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Terraform/Cloud Formation, and automation practices
• Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, etc.)
