Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Lead with strong expertise in Alation to design, implement, and manage enterprise-wide data governance frameworks. This role will be responsible for establishing data policies, driving metadata management, enabling data stewardship, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead enterprise data governance strategy and execution, including policy creation, data quality management, and compliance initiatives.

Implement and manage Alation Data Catalog to enhance data discovery, metadata management, and data lineage across the organization.

Partner with data owners, stewards, and business stakeholders to define and maintain data standards, taxonomies, and business glossaries.

Drive data stewardship and literacy programs, enabling self-service analytics and responsible data usage.

Collaborate with IT, Data Engineering, and Analytics teams to ensure data governance principles are embedded into data pipelines and platforms (cloud and on-prem).

Monitor and enforce regulatory and compliance requirements (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, SOX, etc.).

Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of governance initiatives.

Provide training, best practices, and thought leadership on data governance and cataloging tools.
Professional Skills:

Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Management, or a related field.

7+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or related domains.

Hands-on expertise with Alation Data Catalog, including setup, configuration, stewardship workflows, and metadata curation.

Strong understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK).

Knowledge of data privacy and compliance regulations.

Familiarity with data engineering platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP, Snowflake, Databricks preferred).

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to bridge business and technology teams.

Experience with other governance tools (Collibra, Informatica) is a plus.
