Static Reports Are Extinct
In today’s digital economy business is moving faster than ever before. This speed has brought vast improvements and opened new possibilities, but inherently it carries a few new caveats: the risk of making inaccurate decisions has been amplified, and your competition is getting faster.
For C-Suite executives a typical boardroom meeting includes excel sheets, PowerPoint presentations, and pdf files to cover the numbers and figures depicting a company’s performance. For such meetings, the data needs to be analyzed and churned days if not weeks before the meeting. As a result, the key figures and numbers that are presented in board meetings are always stale.
Basing decisions on snap shots of stale data is now a defunct practice. With the rapid pace of change, even the smallest discrepancy in your information (i.e. a 5-day lag in report creation) can significantly hurt your company, especially when this inaccuracy is compounded over decision after decision.
The Time for Digital Transformation is Now.
As a C-Suite officer in charge of steering the company towards profits, mitigating risks, and taking corrective actions, you need to have access to updated information in real-time, within seconds. As we enter an age where every company is a tech company, the technology supporting your business represents a larger part in achieving success than ever before. In fact, digital winners are 38% more likely to report strong revenue and profit growth compared to laggards.
The Ultimate Solution
Executives can now view reports, run simulations, and predict future outcomes based on real-time data to make strategic and corrective actions, all right in the middle of boardroom meetings.
SAP Digital Boardroom offers a new-age digital way of conducting meetings with up to the second real-time information being represented in a more meaningful fashion through customized views including interactive dashboards, visualizations, and live KPI’s.
SAP Digital Boardroom
By leveraging SAP BusinessObjects Cloud (previously named “SAP Cloud for Analytics”), SAP Digital Boardroom can utilize data from various Lines of Businesses, the SAP HANA Cloud Platform, and SAP S/4HANA Suite to provide a true single source of critical business metrics pertaining to a particular company. With this approach, companies can not only monitor, but also drive change in the digital economy.
“SAP Digital Boardroom intends to provide total transparency to board members, executives and decision-makers with a comprehensive, real-time view of business performance across an entire company,” said Bernd Leukert, member of the Executive Board of SAP SE, Products & Innovation. “We have incorporated fully automated business intelligence capabilities that aim to dramatically improve the quality and speed of reporting as well as collaboration in real time. As businesses continue to transform and evolve around the digital economy, executives will be able to use SAP Digital Boardroom for instant, data-driven insights that address ad hoc questions and improve decision-making. It will ultimately build trust between all board participants, employees and investors.” – SAP Press Release
SAP Digital Boardroom is built on SAP BusinessObjects Cloud and uses the visualizations generated here to aid the decision making process. With the ability to pull data from both Cloud and On-premise data sources and applications, SAP Digital Boardroom creates a centralized source of truth for all your information. In addition to presenting information, users can also take advantage of the predictive analysis function where strategic decisions can be simulated simply by moving a slider to adjust certain variables.
In a time where businesses are expected to be more agile, SAP Digital Boardroom can play a crucial role in changing the way meetings are conducted by enabling management to dig deeper and answer questions more quickly.
SAP Digital Boardroom and SAP BusinessObjects Cloud
SAP Digital Boardroom is built on top of SAP BusinessObjects Cloud, residing in the SAP HANA Cloud Platform. Using a SaaS-based model built into SAP HCP’s PaaS model, the solutions are designed to offer rapid deployment and scalability, all coming back to the key theme of increasing business agility.
SAP BusinessObjects Cloud combines Business Intelligence (BI) and Planning and Predictive analysis in a single cloud based solution. It simplifies the Financial Planning and Analysis, to give you the ability to collaborate and analyze data in the context you are interested in planning, in real time.
With SAP BusinessObjects Cloud as the composer of your data, SAP Digital Boardroom acts as the front-end application to unify your information and present it with a modern, intuitive user experience.
Your Data and SAP Digital Boardroom
Whether the source is cloud-based or on-premise, companies can take advantage of a native integration with SAP Digital Boardroom.
As far as the data is concerned, as long as you run SAP BusinessObjects Cloud and the Boardroom directly in a HANA environment, then besides leaving the data within the legacy system or within the data warehouse, you can also reuse existing models directly. For example, if you have an S/4HANA environment connected to SAP BusinessObjects Cloud in the Digital Boardroom, then you can reuse existing CDS views, which have all the business logic in them.
If you’re running a visualization on top of a BW, then you can reuse the existing BW queries. This means that this also gives you a jump start for SAP BusinessObjects Cloud and for the Digital Boardroom.
SAP S/4HANA plays a vital role in SAP Digital Boardroom. The data may reside either on the On-Premise installation or Cloud. Either of the installation type, is connected to SAP HANA Cloud Platform.
Core Features of SAP Digital Boardroom
- Impactful Meetings
Users can easily come up with fluid presentations that convey the data in a more meaningful and easy to understand fashion. You may follow a prepared presentation script, yet at the same time, have the ability to skip, break-off, or go to a predefined presentation path. The interactive data visualizations allow you to dig deeper into KPI’s and explore the contextual information. Creating dynamic views of live data allows you to discuss topics that aren’t based on facts in the system. Drill down to a supporting level of detail to highlight the integrity of the underlying data. Incorporate static unstructured external information (such as texts and figures) created ahead of the meeting.
- Planning and Simulation
With the use of ad-hoc and what-if analysis, you can explore alternative courses of action and compare the impact of decisions. By simulating the impact of changing assumptions and different actions you can gain a better understanding of the sensitivity of displayed information. You can also understand the various drivers and their relationships in planning and simulation models.
- Data Exploration
SAP Digital Boardroom gives you the possibilities to explore relationships and dig deeper along semantically meaningful paths, combine key figures, use filters to spot correlations and compare trends.
